The Senior Class of Washington Community High School proudly dedicates the 1961 WACOHI to Mr. Golden Babcook, who is affectionately known to his countless friends and associates as "Goldie." Goldie's tremendous personality and enjoyable humor have made him a beloved  teacher, friend, and colleague to all who have known him.

His outstanding athletic prowess during his college days at Bradley University have gained him a place in the "Bradley Hall of Fame," an honor justly deserved. His great football teams have gained him recognition and admiration by his players and cohorts. He loves athletics and kids.

Goldie is more than a great athlete and coach; he is a wonderful person and friend. He always has time to speak and to listen to your problems. Often he gives you some of his sage advice. Everyone must agree that, even when you take an excuse in before school in the morning, Goldie is always willing to listen even if he doesn't believe you.

To have Goldie as a teacher is indeed a privilege. His classes are interesting and he knows his math thoroughly. Trig is the only class he teaches at present due to his many administrative duties.

SO IT IS WITH GREAT PRIDE, ADMIRATION, RESPECT, AND AFFECTION THAT WE, THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1961 DEDICATE THE 1961 WACOHI TO GOLDIE BABCOOK, TEACHER, COACH, ATHLETE, AND FRIEND OF WACOHI FOR TWENTY-FOUR YEARS.
